William Kelley Aromas of orange, dark berries, plums and spices introduce Chevillon's 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes, a medium to full-bodied, supple and perfumed wine that's charming and sensual, concluding with a saline finish. This cuvée never seems to miss a beat. Domaine Robert Chevillon is one of my favorite addresses in all of Burgundy, producing hearty, characterful wines that stand the test of time. Old vines, cultivated soils, moderate yields and long macerations at comparatively high temperatures with entirely destemmed grapes are the order of the day at this address, with the Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes seeing some 20% new oak and the premiers crus 30%. Nuits's Tonnellerie Sirugue is the dominant supplier of barrels.
