India Harangal Estate
A vibrant naturally processed coffee from the forested hills of Karnataka, India. This cup balances layered fruit sweetness with structured brightness in a way that feels both adventurous and approachable. It’s a dynamic, expressive coffee that changes beautifully across brew methods while remaining clean, sweet, and balanced. Tasting Notes A beautifully sweet fragrance brews into soft fruit acidity with layered notes of nectarine, plum, raisin, and berry. The cup finishes with caramel and black tea undertones, surprising even the lightest-roast lovers. Brewed at a 1:17 (coffee:water) ratio, it leans tea-like and floral with delicate citrus and stone fruit notes. Push a little further into 1:16 or 1:15 and it opens into caramelized sweetness, plum, dried fruit, and juicy berry character. Roast Level Roast Level: Medium / light Coffee Story Our first-ever coffee from India comes from Harangal Estate in the Coorg region of Karnataka, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it! Grown by Petu Kariappa, a member of the KaadKaapi collective (a group of farmers focused on quality and protecting the region’s natural biodiversity) this coffee is cultivated on a 100-acre farm tucked beneath the dense forest canopy of the Western Ghats. More wildlife sanctuary than traditional coffee farm, Harangal is home to thriving flora and fauna that help create an incredibly unique growing environment. We’ve been especially excited about this lot because it offers such a distinct look into the depth and character of Indian specialty coffee; a first for us, and hopefully the first of many. Processing: Natural Growing Region: Coorg, Karnataka, India; 1150 - 1280 MASL Varietal: Chandragiri Arabica Excellent for: Pour over, drip coffee, immersion brewing Brewing Tips: Lower-strength brews (try a 1:17 ratio) highlight floral and tea-like qualities, while slightly higher ratios bring forward deeper caramel sweetness and darker fruit notes like plum and raisin.
