It’s honest coffee from a producer who truly cares about every step of the process — from tree to cup. 🌱 The Story Behind the Bean Ferney Mendez began his coffee journey at just 14 years old after receiving a small plot of land with around 200 coffee trees from his grandfather. What started as a family gift quickly became a lifelong passion. Over the years, Ferney developed deep expertise in coffee cultivation, harvesting, and processing, building a farm rooted in quality and sustainability. Today, Ferney produces exceptional coffee at Finca Buena Vista in Planadas, Tolima — one of Colombia’s most celebrated coffee-growing regions. He believes producing outstanding coffee comes down to three key elements: careful processing, precise harvesting, and meticulous cleanliness. Ferney’s sustainability practices are woven into daily life on the farm. He treats organic waste responsibly, carefully manages honey water from processing, and uses living barriers to help protect and strengthen the local ecosystem. Coffee is the economic heartbeat of Ferney’s community, and he takes pride in helping fellow producers improve quality and build stronger futures through shared knowledge and collaboration. 🔬 Processing Details Ferney uses a highly intentional washed processing method designed to maximize clarity, sweetness, and balance in every cup. The process begins with careful cherry selection, removing both under-ripe and over-ripe fruit to ensure only the best cherries move forward. Next, hydrodynamic separation removes lower-density floaters before ripe cherries undergo fermentation and depulping. The coffee is then dried slowly on raised beds using a carefully controlled process that begins with sun exposure and transitions into strategic shading. This protects the coffee from excessive heat while preserving flavor complexity and cup quality. This level of attention to detail helps create a coffee that is clean, vibrant, and deeply enjoyable. 🔒 Freshness Guarantee We roast every batch fresh and ship quickly to help preserve the natural aromas and flavors of the coffee. For the best experience, store your beans in a cool, dark place away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight.
