DATE: Antique, c.1770 Frederick the Great led Prussia through the Seven Years' War (1756–1763), the last major conflict before the French revolution to involve all the great powers in Europe. France, Russia and Austria etc were aligned against Prussia, Hanover and Great Britain- and the war arose from the attempt of the Austrian Habsburgs (one of Europe's most influential ruling dynasties) to win back the rich province of Silesia. This had been taken by Frederick the Great during the War of the Austrian Succession (1740–48). This amazing antique porcelain heart pendant is hand painted with the Prussia coat of arms- the eagle- casting thunderbolts down on the symbols of France and Austria. The other side features old French, which translates roughly to "Vain efforts, Jealous mortals you destroy the glory, your efforts are superfluous and if Frederick is great by his victories, then he is more so by his virtues". This is referencing his actions in the seven years war, and the heart is framed by rosey/yellow gold with its original bail. STONES Porcelain MEASUREMENTS 3.1 x 2.3cm (including bail) WEIGHT 7.6g MARKS No marks present, tests as 15k gold CONDITION Good, wear to the enamel throughout
