Lawrence Bittaker Signed Letter

This is a typed letter from one of the Toolbox Killers, Lawrence Bittaker. The letter has been signed in pen with Bittaker’s initials. Included is the mailing envelope where he typed his name and return address as well COA included Roy Norris and Lawrence Bittaker were California serial killers known as the “Tool Box Killers,” responsible for the abduction, torture, rape, and murder of teenage girls in Southern California during 1979. Operating from a van they called the “Murder Mac,” the pair targeted vulnerable young hitchhikers and runaways, recording some of the assaults on audio tape. Their crimes were marked by extreme brutality, involving prolonged torture with tools including pliers, ice picks, and hammers. The case horrified investigators and became one of the most disturbing serial murder cases in American history. Norris eventually confessed and testified against Bittaker in exchange for a reduced sentence. Norris received 45 years to life in prison and died in custody in 2020, while Bittaker was sentenced to death and remained on California’s death row until his death in 2019.
