Grape Variety: Pinot Noir Producer: La Ferme des 9 Chemins (Jeanne Gaston-Breton) Region: Reichsfeld, Alsace, France Certified Organic and Biodynamic Vegan friendly wine Wild Scale: 3/5 Winemaking: Organic Pinot Noir grapes from 35 year old vines grown on volcanic, sandy soils were hand harvested. One third of the grapes were de-stemmed whilst others remained in whole bunches. Fermentation with indigenous yeast. Aged in a combination of old barrels and tanks for 12 months. Bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur. This Wine: Natural red wine with a light body. This is a light, delicate and perfumed expression of Pinot Noir with raspberry, cranberry and red current alongside peppery and darker, earthy notes. Made in very small quantities. Notes on the Winemaker: Jeanne Gaston-Breton is located in a small, almost hidden part of Alsace, not too far from the famous winemaking village of Dambach-la-Ville. Here, the biodiversity brings health to the soil and allows the family to produce grapes of the highest quality. Some of the top names in Alsace purchase fruit from Jeanne such as HL favourite Yannick Meckert and with the rest she produces her own beautiful cuvées. The wines reflect this complex terroir perfectly whilst also displaying a purity of fruit and lightness of touch.
