Aphonopelma chalcodes females

size 5” sexed females ! U.S.A.’s most popular pet spider. Aphonopelma chalcodes aka the “desert blonde tarantula” are know for their mild temper and long life span. I’d still use caution in handling them though, as I’ve seen some get rather upset when disturbed at the wrong time. Described by Ralph Vary Chamberlin in 1940, these spiders are known to have a widespread range across Arizona and into Mexico. Terrestrial desert tarantula that is super easy to keep.
