Family - Malthaaya
By Brooke Sutton Age – 20 years Size – 60cm wide X 120cm high Medium – Acrylic and textured acrylic on canvas Malthaaya - Family My name is Brooke Sutton and I am a contemporary Indigenous artist from the Kalkadoon people from Mount Isa in Queensland. This painting is called “Malthaaya” in the Kalkadoon language which means “Family”. This painting reflects the heart of family. The people who love us, support us and stand beside us through every season of life. It represents the bonds formed through care, trust, shared history and unconditional connection. It honours the generations who came before us and the foundations they created. Their strength, values and stories continue to live on through us, shaping who we are and guiding who we become. Malthaaya is a celebration of love, resilience and the enduring power of family.
