Chianti Campani - Large

This original vintage Italian advertising poster was created circa 1940 by Empoli for Chianti Campani, a wine producer in Certaldo, near Florence. The design features an oversized bunch of ripe grapes above the bold Chianti Campani lettering, accompanied by the traditional straw-covered Chianti bottle, known as a fiasco. A small red-costumed figure completes the composition.Printed in Milan by Officine Grafiche Necchi, this is the large-format first edition of the poster, produced as a stone lithograph. A later, smaller version of the same design was issued circa 1955 using offset printing.Chianti is one of Italy's best-known wines, originating in the historic wine-producing region of Tuscany between Florence and Siena. For much of the twentieth century, Chianti became internationally recognizable by its distinctive rounded bottle enclosed in a woven straw basket, prominently featured in this poster.Empoli was an Italian commercial artist and poster designer active during the first half of the twentieth century. Little biographical information about the artist appears to have been documented, although his work reflects the strong graphic tradition of Italian advertising of the period, using bold typography, simplified forms and vivid color to create immediately recognizable commercial images.This is an Original Vintage Poster, it is not a reproduction.
