Dalitro 1LT Toscana IGT, Malgiacca 2025
Malgiacca is a small artisan estate in Lucchesia, Tuscany, founded through a shared passion between friends to preserve and reinterpret the region’s traditional vineyards. Working across old and newly planted parcels around Lucca, the team focuses on expressing the character of each individual site through organic farming, biodiversity and minimal intervention. Their vineyards are treated as separate ecosystems, with old vines and forgotten varieties playing an important role in creating wines that are vibrant, honest and deeply connected to the Tuscan landscape. Fermentations are spontaneous, sulphur is kept low and the cellar work is guided by a desire to preserve energy, texture and drinkability. Dalìtro is Malgiacca’s everyday Tuscan red, a generous and characterful wine built around approximately 50% Sangiovese alongside traditional Tuscan varieties including Canaiolo and Ciliegiolo. The vineyards sit on ancient Villafranchiano soils, formed from fluvio lacustrine deposits, which bring freshness and a distinctive mineral character to the wines. Hand harvested grapes are destemmed manually, gently crushed and fermented naturally in small vats without temperature control before ageing across stainless steel, used wooden barrels and amphora. Bright cherry, raspberry and red plum are layered with violet, dried herbs and subtle spice, while the palate is juicy, savoury and effortlessly drinkable, combining the freshness of traditional Tuscan reds with the energy of low intervention winemaking.
