This particular Honey Processed Geisha impresses with its exceptional honey sweetness and its soft and silky texture. Notes of green grapes and bright flowers give this extraordinary and elegant cup profile a juicy and fruity vibrancy. The Geisha coffee cherries are carefully hand-picked when they reach their sweetest ripeness—recognizable by their deep red color. Impressively, a single shrub is harvested up to eight times to ensure that all coffee cherries are picked at the perfect ripeness. After harvesting, the coffee cherries are depulped and slowly dried in the sun during the day with constant turning and at night in a special drying house. This coffee reflects the unique terroir that makes it so exceptional worldwide. This unique coffee comes from the world-famous Finca Lérida—the very first coffee plantation established in Panama in 1925, which is still known today for producing some of the best and most sought-after coffees worldwide. The picturesque Finca Lérida is located right next to the renowned Lamastus Estate, and both benefit from the unique microclimate in the Boquete region. Here, coffee plants thrive under the optimal conditions of all of Panama. We are particularly happy about our direct relationship with the Amoruso family farm, which manages the Finca today. For the past 4 years, we have been sourcing coffee directly from them. Maria Amoruso, the eldest of five siblings, grew up in Boquete. Even as a little girl, she helped her grandfather with growing coffee plants and processing them. Her dream was always to own her own farm. When Finca Lerida was up for sale in 2009, she breathed new life into this special place with one of the best locations for coffee cultivation. She planted Geisha plants and, a few years ago, even the SL 34 variety from Kenya, with which she won fourth place at the BOP.
