Lino Rodriguez
Introducing the white rainbow series: a place for coffees that don’t quite fit into our regular line-up but are not wild or weird enough for the black series either. The white series will be a home for unique, high end coffees processed in a more traditional style. These will all be exceptional coffees that we fell in love with, but might just be too expensive for your daily cup. We are releasing another beautiful washed coffee in our white rainbow series. This time an SL28 from Linarco Rodriguez in Colombia. We cupped his coffees during Paris Cafe Festival together with Cata and honestly every lot was incredible, but it was the SL28 that grabbed our attention the most. You can really taste the influence of the Kenyan coffee variety in this cup but it is supported by a structure that is very different from coffees that were actually grown in Kenya. We find this combination to be absolutely stunning. Betania Farm, where this coffee was grown, is part of a thriving network of 117 smallholder producers in southern Huila. At the heart of this community stands Don Linarco, affectionately known as “Don Lino”. He embodies both leadership and humility, combining deep agricultural knowledge with a constant drive for innovation. Over the years, he has introduced improvements in selective harvesting, fermentation control, and drying techniques, raising the standards for his entire region. His commitment extends beyond the farm: he mentors young growers, encourages environmentally responsible practices, and supports initiatives that strengthen the local community. This coffee's distinct character is no accident. It is the result of a deliberate convergence of place, people, genetics and process that makes a beautiful cup.
