Design Inspiration The Charles Stewart Andrews Lounge Chair balances refined tailoring with deep, sink-in comfort — a close companion to the Albany, but distinguished by a loose back cushion and an English roll arm in place of the Albany's track-style arm. As with all Charles Stewart pieces, the legs are finished in dark walnut standard, though custom finishes and custom fabric are available upon inquiry. Craftsmanship The Andrews is built on a handcrafted, kiln-dried maple hardwood frame with double-doweled joints and corner bracing for structural durability, supported by traditional 8-way hand-tied spring suspension reinforced with heavy deck padding for balanced weight distribution and longevity. The seat core features individual steel coil springs wrapped in fabric and encased in high-resilience urethane foam, surrounded by a channeled, down-proof cover filled with a 50/50 blend of down, feather, and polyester fiber — delivering a soft, luxurious sink-in feel while the inner coils give the cushion structural memory, preventing it from flattening over time. It's upholstered in a premium custom Cowtan & Tout cotton-linen blend, offering a natural, breathable hand-feel with rich woven texture; the fabric is knit-backed for added stability, preventing stretching and ensuring smooth, clean lines across the frame and welt cords.
