Regula Red 0,75L - Tonči Marijan
Details About & recommendation Size: 0,75L Variety: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Plavac mali Vintage: 2020 / current vintage on request Red wine: Dry Alcoholic strength: alc. 14,5% vol. Country: Croatia Region: Dalmatia / Hvar A wine production with a large share of manual labor, from the vineyard through the cellar and winery to the filling and packaging. Truly limited in quantity and devoted to his vineyards on some of the best terroirs on the island of Hvar, Tonči Marijan is an iconic, hard-to-get, Plavac Mali interpreter. His “Vron Bod“, named after the vineyard, won the first-ever Decanter Gold for Plavac Mali. But, it would be wrong not to use any opportunity to experience his work with other local (Bogdanuša, Grk, Prč, Pošip) and international (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot) varieties. Born from the marriage of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot on Hvar’s sun-drenched soils to become a masterpiece of elegance and precision—a wine that weaves the island’s wild beauty with the refined grace of Bordeaux tradition. Deep garnet in the glass, it radiate with a regal presence, releasing a captivating bouquet of blackcurrant, ripe plum, and dark cherries, layered with subtle notes of cedar, tobacco leaf, and earthiness. On the palate, wine unfolds slowly. Firm structure, savory depth, silky tannins… a seamless whole. Flavors of cassis, graphite, and a touch of violet, while a mineral backbone whispers of the limestone soils beneath the vines. There’s a coolness, a refined restraint that speaks of meticulous craftsmanship, yet the warmth of the Mediterranean sun breathes life and richness into every sip.
