Colombia Monteblanco Blueberry Co-Ferment
This isn't a coffee you see every day. This co-fermented Purple Caturra from Colombia is rich with blueberry, blackberry, and passion fruit, finished with a hint of hibiscus. It's heavy-bodied and incredibly fruity, reminding us of a really good dessert wine. This is the result of a grower that is dedicated to their craft and genuinely curious about what experimentation can do to improve the cup. Every Cup Has A Story Grown at 1,750 meters in Colombia's Huila region, this coffee comes from Finca Monteblanco, where producer Rodrigo Sánchez Valencia has built a reputation for pushing fermentation in new directions. The varietal, Purple Caturra, makes this coffee special. It's a rare mutation known for its naturally higher sugar content, giving the cherries an extra sweetness. Before washing, the coffee ferments with a culture from blueberries and red fruit, which builds the deep berry character you taste. It's a careful, intentional process, and the result speaks for itself. BHB Notes We roasted this one light to keep it fruit forward. Brewed as a pour over, it brings out the blueberry and passion fruit beautifully, with a clean, juicy finish. French press adds more body if you want a heavier cup. This is a coffee for the curious – if you're interested in co-ferments and want to taste what it's all about, this is a great starting place. It's one of the more interesting lots we've brought in this year. Grab it while we have it this summer!
