PRIMAVERA (Original)

Primavera is a contemporary marble sculpture by Lucy Unwin, hand carved from Statuary Carrara marble. Combining influences from the human figure and organic forms found in nature, the sculpture brings together flowing curves and clean, sculptural lines within a beautifully balanced form. The composition moves between figurative and abstract, with subtle references to the female body emerging through the sweeping contours of the stone. Smooth transitions between concave and convex surfaces allow light and shadow to continually change across the sculpture, revealing different aspects of its form from every angle. Reflecting Lucy's exploration of renewal, femininity and the relationship between the human form and the natural world, Primavera is a strong example of her distinctive approach to contemporary stone carving.
