Castle & Key Experimental Series: Hungarian Tokaji Casks

Our Wheated Bourbon is built on a gentler foundation — soft winter wheat standing in where rye would be, giving the spirit a round, honeyed warmth instead of fire. For this Experimental Series release, we paired that warmth with something opulent in its own right: Tokaji casks, home to a dessert wine tradition so revered it was once called "the wine of kings, the king of wines" — grapes left on the vine until noble rot concentrates them into something amber, honeyed, and intensely sweet. Resting for over a year, those casks left the bourbon glowing. Orange creamsicle, jasmine tea, and currant preserve open things up, giving way to cotton candy, rum raisin, and orange zest on the palate, with sherry, marzipan, and caraway rounding it into something richer. The finish lingers long and heavy — macerated strawberry and molasses settling into a last note of tobacco leaf. Two traditions, one lavish, one humble, finding an unexpected harmony.
