A kusenaoshi — a traditional whisk holder for a bamboo chasen — created in collaboration between Clay and Katimo Matcha Club. Hand-thrown on the potter’s wheel from semi-porcelain, it is designed to support the natural shape of the whisk after each matcha preparation. As the chasen dries on the holder, its tines maintain their form, flexibility, and neat appearance, helping to extend the lifespan of the whisk. A kusenaoshi is an essential part of chasen care and a natural addition to the daily matcha ritual. Its minimal silhouette and glossy glaze make it both a functional tool and a beautiful object that sits effortlessly alongside a chawan. Each piece is crafted by hand, journeying from raw clay to its final firing.
