The workshop will begin with a reading of poetry, followed by a discussion exploring ideas of identity, perception, and the ways we see ourselves and others. Participants will then translate these reflections into visual form through portraiture, experimenting with oil pastels and charcoal as tools for expression. Through guided exercises and open exploration, participants will be encouraged to look beyond physical likeness, using colour, texture, gesture, and mark-making to explore how identity can be represented, interpreted, and reimagined. No prior experience in drawing or painting is required. The workshop welcomes anyone interested in exploring the relationship between words, identity, and image through an experimental studio practice.
