Hive | By Samba Prasad Biswas | Acrylic Painting

Hive is an acrylic on canvas measuring 18 × 18 inches by Kolkata-born abstract painter Samba Prasad Biswas. The composition presents a dense, symmetrical arrangement of square forms rendered in acrylic — magenta, sky blue, green, orange and purple — each receding inward to suggest depth. The work may evoke the ordered complexity of a honeycomb or a tightly packed architectural structure, though its meaning remains open to the viewer’s interpretation. Biswas, a gold medalist from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, transitioned from figurative painting to abstraction in 2012. His practice engages with color field and geometric form. Hive is available at Visions Art, Opera House Mumbai, with worldwide shipping available.
