Grape Variety: Xarel Lo Producer: Bodega Clandestina (Ferran Lacruz) Region: Alt Penedès, Catalunya, Spain Wild Scale: 2/5 Vegan friendly wine 11.5% alcohol Winemaking: Biodynamic Xarel Lo grapes from a single plot were hand harvested and fermented with indigenous yeast. Bottled with no filtration, fining or added sulphur. This Wine: This is a natural white wine with great balance and precision. There is Mediterranean character on display here with a refreshing salinity and flavours of green apple and ripe citrus fruit. The complexity makes this a wine best served with a light dish such as seafood. Notes on the Winemaker: Ferran Lacruz is a young winemaker in his home region of Penedès, Catalonia who wants to honour the winemaking history and potential future of this region that fell victim to industrialised winemaking in the 1980s. He uses biodynamic practices in the vineyards and never adds anything in the cellar.
