Moose Portrait Oval

Paddle into a quiet bay in the north woods at dusk and you may hear him before you see him: a bull moose wading through the shallows, water streaming from his muzzle as he lifts his head from the lily pads. With his heavy brow, long nose, and the shaggy bell swinging under his chin, he's the undisputed king of the bog. This portrait shows him in profile, facing left, his wide, shovel-shaped antlers reaching nearly to the rim of the oval. Every line is hand-cut, with delicate cuts tracing the antler palms, the ridge of the shoulder, and the folds around the eye and nose. The rust patina finish is a rich, earthy brown with streaks of amber and darker shadow, like old iron left beside a lakeside dock. It mounts with small nails, double-sided tape, velcro, or magnets. Moose wall decor for a lake house living room, a boathouse, a bunk room full of quilts, a study lined with field guides, or a three-season porch looking out over the water. Rustic cabin wall decor that sits well with knotty pine, canoe paddles, and wool blankets, and a fine gift for a paddler, a fly fisherman, a north-woods traveler, or anyone who keeps a cabin up north.
