Paris in the eighties: taxis lining up, leather jackets and ripped jeans on the steps of Les Bains Douches, and Marilyn on the door deciding who gets in. 1986 Éclectique is a tribute to her, the most famous bouncer in Paris. Perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour has said she turned him away more than once. It opens rich and heady with tobacco, leather and honey, lifted by yellow mandarin, cardamom and davana. Geranium adds a little edge, and then deep, magnetic patchouli and amber take over. Sophisticated, a bit gourmand and hard to predict, like the night.
