The Pattern Maker's Studio set is for sewists who trace and keep a growing library of patterns. You get the 4 piece pattern drafting tool set, heat erasable marking pens with refills, the seam guide ruler with its magnetic seam guide, and our red Carry-All Organizer, a binder bag with a built in 3-ring binder and seven clear zip pockets. It works for your first traced pattern and for a well loved collection. Trace, mark, and notch your pattern, add the seam allowance, and transfer your lines to fabric with the pens. Then file the pattern in the binder with your notes, and give every tool and pen its own clear pocket so the kit is ready when you are. Trace it. Keep it. Find it again. Why You'll Love It Copy Any Pattern, Keep the Original: Roll the tracing wheel along your pattern or a favourite garment with paper underneath, then join the dots. You get an exact copy, and the original stays in one piece. Seam Allowance Made Simple: The seam guide ruler has 16 needle holes from one-eighth inch to 2 inches, so adding an even seam allowance (the margin you sew along) to a traced pattern is quick. Lines That Vanish Under the Iron: Draw darts, seam lines, and notches on your fabric with the fine 0.7mm pens. Once you have sewn along them, a pass of the iron makes them disappear, with no washing needed. A Home for Your Patterns: The built in 1 inch, 3-ring binder holds traced patterns, instructions, and notes, so your pattern library stays flat and easy to flip through. Every Tool in Its Pocket: Seven clear zip pockets keep each drafting tool, pen, and the seam guide sorted and easy to spot, and the bag stacks, carries, or hangs. Specifications 1. Pattern Drafting Tool Set, 4 pieces Includes: A tracing wheel, a precision blade, an awl, and a pattern notcher Material: Wood and metal Tracing wheel: Works like a dot to dot. Layer blank paper under your pattern, roll the wheel along every line, then join the little pin prick dots with a pencil for an exact copy, while your original pattern or garment stays untouched Precision blade: Cuts curves, tight corners, and fine detail more cleanly than scissors Awl: Marks exact pivot points and dart placement Pattern notcher: Adds clean, even alignment marks (notches) with one squeeze, so your pattern pieces line up when you sew 2. Heat Erasable Fabric Marking Pens with Refills Contents: 4 pens (white, black, red, and blue) plus 4 refills, one for each colour Tip: A fine 0.7mm point that draws a thin 0.35mm line How they erase: The marks stay as long as you need, then vanish with the heat of your iron Works on: Nearly all fabrics. Use the white pen on dark fabric; white ink can take a few seconds to show up Good to know: Test on a scrap of every fabric first, as faint ghost marks can appear on some. Marks can come back in very cold conditions, so skip them on the top of a show quilt. Store capped and tip down, and use within 5 months 3. Seam Guide Ruler with Magnetic Seam Guide Ruler size: 5.5 by 2.5 inches, in sturdy, see-through fluorescent yellow green plastic Needle holes: 16 holes for seam allowances from one-eighth inch to 2 inches. Lower your needle into the hole you want to set your seam Extra markings: One-eighth, one-quarter, and 1 inch markings, a 45 degree line, quarter and half inch lines, and a quarter inch pivot cross for marking corners Magnetic seam guide: Steel with a strong magnet, about half an inch by 2 inches. It sits on most needle plates or metal machines to guide your fabric Good to know: For quarter inch seams, place the magnetic guide in front of the presser foot or move your needle to the right. For seams narrower than a quarter inch, use washi tape instead 4. Carry-All Binder Bag, Red Colour: Red Size: 13.25 by 4.5 by 11 inches, with 10 inch handles Material: Durable polyester, polyurethane, and stainless steel Binder: A built in 1 inch, 3-ring binder for patterns, instructions, and any hole punched pages Pockets: 7 built in clear zip pockets for tools and notions Good to know: Easy to carry, stack, or hang. The extra binder pockets for the ring binder are not included How to Use This Bundle Lay blank paper under your pattern or garment, roll the tracing wheel along every line, and join the dots with a pencil. Mark darts and pivot points with the awl, and add notches with the pattern notcher. Add your seam allowance around the traced lines using the seam guide ruler. Pin your paper pattern to the fabric and transfer darts, notches, and seam lines with the marking pens, testing on a scrap first. When you sew, set your needle in the matching seam guide hole and place the magnetic guide to keep your seam even. After sewing, press with your iron to make the pen marks disappear. Hole punch your traced pattern pages and notes, file them in the binder, and store each tool in its own clear zip pocket.
