Moates Lane 2021 Shiraz Dozen
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 88 Points - “Fruity and smooth, the wine shows sweet berry, olive, almond and subtle spice aromas on the nose. The palate offers juicy fruit flavours with silky texture and fine tannins, leading to a attractive dry finish. At its best: now to 2027.” COLOUR: Dark garnet red of good intensity with a cherry-purple colour cling and slow legs on the swirl. NOSE: Clean, pronounced developing aromas of sweet blueberry and herbs with a forest berry and black pepper overlay. PALATE: Clean, developing full-bodied flavours of fresh blackberry and ripe fig over a subtle vanilla oak and pepper background, with even supporting tannins across the palate. WINEMAKING: Sourced from a selection of premium Pyrenees and Swan Hill Shiraz vineyards. Traditional winemaking techniques were applied throughout. FOOD PAIRING: Braised lamb shanks, smoky vegetables or spicy curry. VINTAGE NOTES: Cool conditions in early spring enabled a subsequent long growing season. A warm, dry summer subsided into ideal cooler autumn conditions prior to harvest.
