‘Petite Robe’
Jacquère, Savoie, France A confident & coniferous mineral wine from one of Savoie’s buzziest natural winemakers! This mountainous Jacquère is ready to scramble up a cliff with you, rock dust coating your MEC outfits, then unabashedly ask you the deepest life questions as you swallow a palmful of cool springwater at the top! Winemaker Jean Yves-Péron trained in Bordeaux but moved home to grow grapes on steep & schist-blanketed mountains of French alpine town Savoie. Before orange wine had a young n’ hip following, Jean-Yves was one of the only winemakers in his region making orange wine. He lives by a no-rules approach (same!!) where he never makes the same wine the same way. The Petite Robe spends a chill week on skins to bring out just a touch more perfume and texture – keeping the bitterness low in comparison to the grippier skin-contact wines out there. Open a bottle and get wet spring grass, pears quaking in the cidery, the truest sense of a drink served ‘on the rocks,’ japanese binchotan, spicy yuzu margarita, running-in-winter mouth taste & brat green fingerless gloves. Pour with some abondance cheese – because what a good cheese name! SPECIAL NOTE: This wild & of-the-moment wine is best slurped within a few hours of opening!
