Begonia 'Almost Heaven' [#2136]
The plant pictured here is the exact plant being sold Begonia 'Almost Heaven' is a new rhizomatous hybrid from the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. Fort Worth Botanic Garden Volunteer Bobbie Price has been working with the birds and the bees and has created this new variety. It won best new introduction in the commercial division at the Southwest Region Get Together in Houston in May 2015. It is a cross of B. U400 and B. U485. The leaves are large and silver. Along the main veins is a darker area and when you look closely this dark area is covered with tiny little flecks. It blooms most of the year with pink flowers with a creamy yellow tint There are pink hairs on the back of the flowers. It has a full growth habit. This is a new variety and does well in the greenhouse in Fort Worth. It remains to be seen how much humidity it requires. This is the first time this plant has been available.
