POMEGRANATE TREE – PUNICA GRANATUM

Origin: *Punica granatum*, known as the pomegranate tree, is native to a vast region extending from Iran and northern India to parts of the Mediterranean. It is currently widely cultivated in regions with warm and temperate climates. Fruit: Its fruit, the pomegranate, ripens primarily in late summer and throughout autumn. It is round in shape, featuring a thick, reddish skin and numerous juicy seeds inside that have a sweet yet slightly tart flavor. In addition to being eaten fresh, it is used in juices, cooking, and various culinary preparations. Care: It is a hardy, low-maintenance tree that prefers sunny locations and well-drained soil. It tolerates drought quite well once established, although regular watering during the growing season promotes better flowering and fruit production. Structural and maintenance pruning should be carried out in late winter. It is resistant to moderate cold and is particularly well-suited to Mediterranean climates.
