Truuduse Socks Kit by Alex Byrd

We love how Aleks Byrd takes us back to traditional Estonian knitting techniques while keeping it decidedly fresh and modern with her designs! The Truuduse Socks are no exception: They feature a traditional twisted stitch pattern called "vikkel" from the Estonian island of Kihnu. The pattern name comes from an old zigzag mark used in Estonian handicrafts that was used a mark of loyalty and faithfulness. The Truuduse Socks are worked from the cuff down. The vikkel (the twisted stitch pattern) is worked from the leg down into panels or stripes extending to the heel flap and toe. The socks feature a Kihnu heel construction which creates a comfortably fitting square heel using short rows. Aleks designed these socks for our Exmoor Sock and used the colourway "Mizzle" for her sample. We've put together a kit in the original colourway and a handful more options that we think would work really well!
