February 25 | Sourdough: The Basics
In this hands-on class, we’ll take a deep dive into the process of making sourdough bread from start to finish. We’ll begin with an introduction to sourdough and walk through each step of the process together, including ingredients, equipment, fermentation, shaping and baking. We’ll talk about what’s happening at each stage, how to read your dough and how to troubleshoot the things that inevitably come up when making sourdough at home. We’ll start class together by making sourdough crackers before moving through the bread-making process. Each participant will have a dough prepared by Kaelin to work with and shape themselves, and we’ll bake the loaves together so you can see the final stages of the process firsthand. You’ll take your baked loaf home with you at the end of class. A meal and wine are included, giving us time to sit together, talk through the process and answer questions as we go. You’ll also go home with a recipe pack containing the sourdough recipes from class, along with additional recipes, information and resources to help you keep baking at home. We can accommodate most allergies and dietary restrictions. If you’re interested in taking this class but aren’t sure if it will work for you, please reach out to us before booking and we’re happy to chat through your options. We make every effort to make all of the recipes listed for each class, but occasionally ingredient availability or sourcing can mean that a recipe needs to be adjusted or substituted.
