What started as a meeting between the Adirondack Council and a Hamilton County Town Supervisor at the Hemmer Cottage in Old Forge grew into an annual gathering of hundreds of Adirondack leaders where issues such as acid rain, road salt, broadband, and wastewater infrastructure brought diverse stakeholders together to solve shared challenges. Lani’s work transformed relationships and helped historical adversaries recognize common values and goals. Challenges between conservation and economic development remain but thanks to Lani’s efforts, the Adirondack Park is a fundamentally different place than it was when the Alliance began.
