The waistband will therefore fit with 2.5 cm [1 in] of negative ease. GAUGE 18 sts x 28 rnds = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 in] in waffle stitch pattern after blocking, worked in the round with 3.5 mm [US 4] needles. 20 sts x 32 rnds = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 in] in stockinette stitch in the round with 3.25 mm [US 3] needles for the waistband. NOTE First, the waistband is knit in stockinette stitch in the round. It is then folded over, and the skirt body is worked in pattern, finishing with a sewn bind-off.
