Inspired by the legendary BluesBreaker-style circuit heard on albums like Continuum, the Protein's Blue side delivers warm, open overdrive with excellent touch sensitivity. For V4, Browne refined the tone circuit, boosted the available output, and crafted what many consider their favorite version of this classic tone—true to the original, but undeniably improved. The Green side is based on the iconic Nashville overdrive favored by top session players like Tim Pierce and Jerry McPherson. In V4, the gain has been revoiced for a smoother sweep, the mids reshaped for added presence, and the low end tightened to eliminate mud. The result? A rich, punchy drive that adds low-mid weight without sacrificing clarity. Running the Green into the Blue unlocks a harmonically rich, high-headroom third “channel” with extra gain and girth—perfect for lead tones or saturated rhythm parts.
