A mini chandelier earring that pays homage to "octopus bags" or "fire bags." These "bags of many legs" were originally called "fire bags" because they were used to carry flint, tobacco, and/or ammunition. In the mid 1800's, these bags were made by Métis people across the Northern plains, the Yukon, and along the Columbia River. It is thought that the name "octopus bag" was given by the Tlingit Nation when the bags were introduced by Métis traders to the Northwest coast. The bags have widespread creation origins, with Anishinaabe, Cree and Métis women of the Red River Valley in Manitoba creating prototypes for the modern octopus bag as early as 1820. Each earring features 3 dangling appendages that give decoration and add movement. 6 cm long Lightweight & for pierced ears. 925 Sterling Silver Italian-produced Acrylic, made of 100% recycled raw materials.
