2024 Mr Ramoy Shiraz
Tasting Note: This wine is a blend of grapes of equal quantities from our three estate vineyards-the original Shiraz planting, the Cabernet block and the Block 6 Shiraz. Crushed and fermented separately in three new French Oak Puncheons. Sealed after fermentation had finished and kept on skins for another six weeks. Basket pressed, blended, and returned to the same French oak puncheons for another 22 months. Bottled in March 2021. A blend of the whole vineyard, so it is a Shiraz Cabernet, fermented and aged in 100 percent new French oak. Deep red with a bright red to crimson tinge. Super lifted and complex aromatically. A combination of dark and red berries married to hints of cassis, pepper and leafy, herbal notes. Brooding. The beautifully refined tannins, from aging in large format oak, an adoring caress for the multifaceted fruit flavours. Exhibits wonderful length and persistence at such a young age, auguring well for a long cellar life. Suggested Cellaring: 4-12+ years Jeni Port - Halliday Wine Companion - 96 Points Offers an intense and brooding mix of ripe black fruits, plum, dry Aussie bush, dark roasted spices, cocoa, nutty oak, bay leaf and wild herbs. It's a potent, beguiling classic shiraz cabernet blend. The palate is taut, just so, not overstated, with ripe tannins on show. Fleshy in texture, Mr Ramoy is a showcase for the region's number-one grape variety, shiraz, and a regional grape that deserves way more respect, cabernet. Both are given their due. It's a beautiful synergy.
