St. Amant Lodi Mohr-Fry Ranch Old Vine Zinfandel

The signature wine of one of Lodi's defining wineries, this old vine Zinfandel is a delightful iteration of big, chewy, California Zin. Made in a style that highlights the rich raspberry and spicy blackberry fruit flavours characteristic of Lodi Zinfandel, this full-bodied red drinks deliciously right out of the bottle, but will benefit from a few years ageing. Silky and elegant yet defined by its power and textural presence, this is California at its absolute best. 17/20 - Shaded transparent garnet. Already the rim is translucent. Very gentle-textured and full of life. A real charmer. Pure Zin character – presumably pure Lodi Zin character! So readable and beautifully balanced and appetising.
