Any bookbinder, beginner or advanced; For beginners: a thorough and approachable overview of possibilities For experienced binders: an opportunity to refresh, refine and/or expand your skill set Types of corners covered: The 'normal' corner (bookcloth or paper) The round corner The leather corner The vellum corner Bonus corner What's needed? Regular bookbinding equipment Timbentool Corner mate: a plus, but not indispensable Included also: a list of suppliers (Europe + USA) for anything unusual (or usual) used in these techniques Testimonial What a great read! Ben mused at the beginning, that there might be something in it for every one – and I had to laugh. Just something? I found loads! The publication starts out by exploring the 'why', then sets out to explain the ‘how’ - step by step - nicely done! A variety of tools are introduced, with a line-up ranging from the classic scissors to the high-end adjustable Timbentool. I appreciated how the merit of each was outlined, assuring the reader that good results could be achieved with any of them - provided that the maker knew what he was looking for in a corner. And that is perhaps the best thing about this tutorial - it’s not a set of equations that one blindly follows. Rather, it encourages the approach of ‘trial and error’ and to slowly inch towards the perfect solution for a specific project. This sounds counter-intuitive for a tutorial, but is in fact a great gift: guiding the mind and eye towards the essence of each corner, giving the maker the freedom to fully understand, focus, and adjust. Thank you Ben! (Oh, and I mustn’t forget: the layout and design are exquisite!) Annette Friedrich (Halle, Germany) Conditions of use This tutorial is for personal use only.
