Musashi "Gold Dragonfly" Katana

From the Musashi Silver Shirakawa Series comes this intricately hand-crafted Gold Dragonfly Katana. Maru-kitae hand forged technique using 1060 high carbon steel furnished with rare Suguha hamon, the Gold Dragonfly katana is truly a rare and unique katana. We decided to forge the blade with the rare Suguha hamon pattern. The Suguha hamon is less common and rarely seen on katanas. The skills required to create Suguha hamon are immense. We wanted to showcase the skillfulness of our swordsmiths by applying it. Another unique feature is the integrated Bo-Hi on the blade. Bo-Hi is commonly known as blood grooves, but that is a common misconception. The purpose of the Bo-Hi is to help reduce the weight of the katana; it has nothing to do with channeling the blood. Making the Katana lighter enables the user to wield the katana better and puts less stress on the hands. Not to mention, it benefits some advanced cutting techniques that require the katana to change direction rapidly. The detailed Maru Gata style brass tsuba depicts a dragonfly with a wide wingspan. In Samurai culture, the dragonfly is known as a symbol of power, agility, and victory. Included with this katana is a sword bag and Certificate of Authenticity. Each sword is individually numbered on the tang.
