URBAN TERRACE
Our latest cultural story comes in collaboration with the great Austin Stacks GAA club in Tralee. Urban Terrace sits at the top of Rock Street in the heart of the town, a kick of a ball from Connolly Park, home of the Rockies. Stacks have provided Kerry with many county footballers (and hurlers) , but most famously the footballers of Urban Terrace. From this terrace of 20 houses, 21 All Ireland Senior Football medals were won by Austin Stacks players across 18 years from 1924 to 1942. The ‘Street of Champions’, it was from here the seeds of tradition and winning were were set for Austin Stacks players to follow. The Urban Terrace print is a 2D replica of the row of houses as seen on town maps, with the players names and house numbers placed at the doors of each. Those players and house numbers were as follows. Gal Slattery (1 medal – 1926) no. 2 Urban Terrace. Miko Doyle (5 medals - 1929/30/31/32/37) no. 5 Urban Terrace Billy Landers (2 medals – 1924/1932) no. 7 Urban Terrace. Tim Landers (5 medals – 1931/32/37/39/41) no. 7 Urban Terrace John Joe Landers (5 medals – 1929/30/31/32/37) no. 7 Urban Terrace Jimmy Gorman (3 medals – 1939/40/41) no. 10 Urban Terrace. Though their names might be forgotten by many today, Austin Stacks GAA and Keohane Athletic Club, remember. Product description.
