Andrew Will 'Champoux Vineyard' Merlot Blend, Horse Heaven Hills, Columbia Valley, Washington 2020

WINEMAKER: Will Camarda FARMING: Organic (practicing across estate and sourced vineyards) VARIETY: 54% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4% Petite Verdot TERROIR: Champoux Vineyard, considered one of the best sites in Washington State, is located in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. Average vine age is approximately 40 years old with sandy loam soils. VINIFICATION: All fruit is 100% destemmed, fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tank. AGING: Matured for 23 months in 30% new/70% neutral French oak. Unfined/unfiltered. TASTING NOTES: Powerful and dense, these wines are known for their depth and sense of place. A rich, mouth-coating wine with notes of cassis, black plum, blueberry and saddle leather. The tannins are chewy now, but will mellow with time and decanting. FOOD PAIRINGS: Ribeye steak, Braised oxtail stew, or rack of lamb. ABV: 15%
