Toucan and woodpecker original woodcut

Toucans and woodpeckers are close cousins! I was excited to research what incredible woodpeckers live in South America alongside toucans. Also, toucans are freeloaders! You would think they could make a hole for their chicks with those incredibly large bills, but they can't. They steal holes from their woodpecker cousins. Their feet are a giveaway to their shared ancestry. Here is a good trivia term, zygodactyl. Two toes point forward and two toes point backward.
