ANIME MATSURI // Sew a Japanese Knot Bag

Location: Anime Matsuri 2026 | GRB Room 351 C/F – Sewing Room Class Length: 2 hours ________________________________ Sew-a-long in this workshop inspired by traditional Japanese furoshiki knotting! Together we’ll be making a “knot bag”, or a simple tote bag with an easy knot closure, perfect for small items like cell phones, cosmetics, or trinkets picked up at the con. Learn about the history of Japanese sewing and bag making while we work together in a cozy, relaxed environment. All students will get to take home their finished bag, as well as printed instructions on how to recreate the project at home. ________________________________ In this class you'll learn: How to sew basic shapes together How to clip curved areas for smoother circles How to use an iron to get crisp seams on your project Prerequisite Skills: None – beginner friendly ________________________________ About the Instructor: Madison May, the head pattern maker at CUT/SEW, founded the company in 2016. With almost fifteen years of experience in the costume and fashion industry, Madison has provided patterns to both broadway & off-broadway productions, major US theme parks, international cruise lines, and television. Cosplay has been a hobby of hers since 2005 and she also is active in the cosplay photography community under the moniker of Final-Egirl. ________________________________ The Nitty Gritty: To participate in this workshop, a liability waiver must be completed for all participants Anyone under 16 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian Space is limited and all tickets are first come first serve Purchasing a ticket reserves one (1) seat at this class.
