Baptisia tinctoria - Wild Indigo

Wild Indigo is a shrubby upright native perennial with clover-like grey green foliage. The loose clusters of small yellow pea-like flowers bloom on raceme that extends above foliage from late spring into early summer. The blooms give way to large seedpods that blacken when ripe, providing ornamental interest. Flowers best in full sun with acidic well-drained soils. Drought tolerant once established.
