This is a one time purchase of a previously featured Sequential Underground reader box. This is not an ongoing subscription. For April, we wanted to explore a world of interconnectedness, expansive thinking, and solidarity. When we started our company ten years ago, every decision centers on how we can be of use in our own literary community and how we can bring joy to our readers. As always, this box has been crafted with love and intention. May you find joy in this coming springtime. Featuring: The Beginning Comes After the End: Notes on a World of Change by Rebecca Solnit Known for her powerful essays on cultural, social, and political issues, her newest collection once again combines what we love most about her: her breathtaking research and her emphasis on hope. Solnit surveys a world that has changed dramatically since the year 1960. Despite the forces seeking to turn back the clock on history, change is not a possibility; it is an inevitability. It’s an important, necessary book for the time that we’re living in. Becoming Political: Finding Possibility Within Community a zine by Christina Tran and the Field Team at APANO (Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon) Part personal narrative, part activist guide, this zine explains what it means to participate as a citizen. We often think of “being political” as declaring an allegiance to one party or simply showing up to the polls. Building your own activism toolkit requires getting out in your own community and defining what it means to make a difference. A Starter Guide To DEIBJA a zine by Oh Happy Dani! A second zine for the month, this guide empowers its readers to be confident in their knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, justice, and accessibility. Based on the experiences through the lens of a book club, this zine is a wonderful resource in presenting the topic through a real-world scenario. Pick Me Up Affirmation Cards by Mindfulnice In order for us to do good work, we have to remember our why. Allowing ourselves rest and care makes us stronger for whatever lies ahead. These “Pick Me Up” affirmation cards are designed to carry with you, share with a friend, or leave around your community. Mindfulnice is a women-owned business based in Carlisle, PA and specializes in mindfulness education, creativity, and the healing arts. "Good Work” print by Oh Happy Dani This print is a favorite with Sequential Underground staff so much that it’s hanging in our office as we speak! This manifesto for living an action-oriented life encourages us to work together so we can make our world better and safer for all. “Choose Empathy” pinback button by Oh Happy Dani Choosing empathy means sharing the heavy burdens of the world. May you wear this message proudly. Wear this button with pride to encourage others to take a moment and think of each other. How to Build Community bookmark package by Syracuse Cultural Workers This month, we’re sending over a package of 6 bookmarks to share with your friends, family, and community. A handy list of staying present and working together from Syracuse Cultural Workers, a small independent publisher that highlights social justice, sustainability, and peace.
