While occasional use of RenewAire ERVs at temperatures of -20°F, or even colder, will not affect the long-term performance of the unit, during extended periods of operation at 0°F (-18°C), exhaust airflow restriction due to frost formation may begin to occur. This frost formation is seldom noticeable as accumulation occurs slowly over hours of operation. The Frost Prevention Digital Thermostat Control can be utilized if you must maintain exhaust airflow in these extreme conditions. To use the Frost Prevention Controller, the sensor will need to monitor the temperature in the EA compartment of the unit. When the EA temperature drops below the predetermined setpoint, it will stop the OA fan from running, allowing the RA to raise the temperature.
