Distilled in 2012 and matured in a Pedro Ximénez puncheon before a finishing period in the same cask type, this 13 year old Highland single malt leans into deep sherried character. Known for its waxy, weighty spirit, Deanston provides a robust base for the influence of PX cask maturation, bringing layers of sweetness and depth. Nose: dark fruits - blueberries and blackberries, with toasted oak and Walnut Whip. Hints of bitter orange. Taste: ooft, there's that unmistakable velvety PX texture. Sweet - Amarena cherries, double-mocha, macerated raisins and intense Demerara. Sublime cloves and ginger crash the party to keep you on your toes. It all feels very European, somehow.
