Alberto & Diego Guardia - Hacienda Sonora - Central Valley, Costa Rica
We are thrilled to bring back the coffee from Alberto and Diego Guardia's Hacienda Sonora Estate. This farm has been in the Guardia family for over 100 years, and today, his son Diego Guardia manages daily operations with a focus on quality. Unlike most farms, Hacienda Sonora irrigates its coffee plants for control over cultivation and consistency. They also own their dry mill, ensuring that their coffee's integrity is preserved from farm to cup. In 1999, Alberto began experimenting with honey and natural processes at his mill. Using these methods exclusively saves about three gallons of water per pound of green coffee compared to the washed process. Hacienda Sonora prioritizes quality and value in their specialty coffee production. The farm runs entirely on renewable energy from a water turbine, even supplying power to the farmers' living quarters. It also includes a 20-acre forest reserve and benefits from the rich volcanic soil of the Poás Volcano. notes: Lemon, Rhubarb, Raspberry Jam varietals: victoria 14 elevation: 1300m processing: natural
