2019 Barolo Capalot

Old-school Barolo with perfume, power and poise Santamaria is a tiny family estate based in the hamlet of Santa Maria in La Morra. Production is extremely limited and resolutely traditional, with long macerations and maturation in large, seasoned botti allowing the character of Nebbiolo and the Capalot vineyard to shine. Now showing beautifully, the 2019 offers a persistent perfume of dried flowers, spice and liquorice. The palate is intense and sophisticated, with the benefits of bottle age bringing harmony and composure to its fruit, acidity and savoury detail. Firm, drying tannins shape the long finish, promising many more years of graceful development in the cellar.
