Antique Japanese Ceramic Seto Tokkuri Wide Mouth Sake Bottle

Late edo/early Meiji Seto wide mouth Tokkuri with stunning glaze drips. The main large glaze drip is one of those amazing random kiln artefacts that is completely unique. The glaze appears transparent in parts and at the end a bubble in the glaze has burst. This would have been used as a sake delivery or merchant bottle and then decanted into smaller bottles in a house or business. These types of large old Seto bottles are becoming quite rare in Japan now. Purchased from a dealer in Japan on our last trip in May 2026. Ash glaze, Kaya cloth and trimming marks to base. In good condition, there are hairline cracks to the glaze, but these do not run all the way through the body. Measures 22cm tall x 10.5cm wide
