Two Paddocks Picnic Pinot Noir, Central Otago 2024

We were seriously impressed with these wines when we tasted them with GM Jacqui Murphy back in May, and desperately sad to hear of the recent death of their founder Sam Neil. Like Sam, I’m a huge Pinot Noir fan (our first then unborn child was nicknamed Pinot Noir. For his sake we called Barnaby!). I’ve therefore tasted 1000s of Pinots, with some beauties and some disappointments. This however, despite the prestige the estate brings with the famous actor and its organic and biodynamic principles, is a true delight. Fruit forward strawberry, raspberry notes the grapes sourced from the 4 different sites, short fermentation lasting only 11 days, but has great structure and depth and shows its class. 13% vol.
